I have held my HGV Class 1 vocational Driver Licence since 1987 (including ADR for 15 years) and hold an up-to-date DQC card. I hold a clean Driving licence and qualified as a Certified Advanced Trainer (CAT) for the Institute of Advanced Motorist in April 2010.
I qualified as a Transport Manager in 1990 and since have held senior management positions (Transport / Operations / Head of Services) within both the Public and Private Sector. I continually maintain my 5-year Transport Manager refresher training (2 days Feb 2022) as per recommendation and currently sit as an external Transport Manager for 1 client.
I have been a qualified Dangerous Goods Safety Advisor since June 2009. Re H&S, I have held the IOSH H&S qualification since Dec 2012 (renew every 3 years) NEBOSH OHS since June 2020, NEBOSH Fire Safety since June 2023, and ProQual Level 6 NVQ Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety Practice, Feb 2021.
I consult for clients within the Waste Industry (hold qualifications WAMITAB Level 4 Medium Risk Waste Transfer Site Aug 2022 and WAMITAB Level 4 Inert Landfill Sept 2022) and Construction Industry (qualification Site Safety Plus Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) for the Construction and Civil Engineering Industries Oct 2020. I previously set up and managed my own DVSA approved DCPC training centre and have helped Companies set up as DCPC training service providers.
For auditing purposed, I hold QMS ISO 9001 2015 IRCA internal audit course (15-16 Nov 2016) and QMS ISO 9001:2015 Lead Auditor (09-13 Mar 2020) qualifications.
Re professional bodies I am a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Logistics & Transport (FCILT) since 2002, CertIOSH Institution of Occupational Safety and Health since 11/03/2021 and MInstTA since Dec 2023.
I have been a sub-contracted Auditor for DVSA since 2016 having observed and provided more than 750 DCPC course and Centre audits reports, and as a sub-contracted Auditor for Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme (FORS, I am a FORS Practitioner), more than 950 Centre audits, same period, and have undertaken mandatory Auditor retraining, when required. I audit transport Companies who require benchmarking against Earned Recognition, require transport ‘health checks’(Compliance) or they have been referred to by the Traffic Commissioner following a Public Inquiry or Undertakings of.
In Oct 2023 I passed my Highfield Level 3 Award in Education and Training (PTTLS) qualification and in Feb 2024 TQUK Understanding Autism Level Feb 2024 as a means of future proofing further opportunities and to better understand my grandson Francis condition with Autism.
